Prismatic LiFePO4 (LFP)

About LFP Batteries:

LiFePO4 is the safest Lithium-based battery chemistry on the market today. Often pronounced “Lithium Iron Phosphate” and abbreviated as “LFP”, these batteries are extremely robust and intrinsically safe.  They does not support spontaneous combustion or thermal runaway. Other lithium based battery chemistries such as LiCoO2 (Lithium Cobalt) has a negative temperature coefficient of resistance that can lead to thermal runaway. LFP batteries are hermetically sealed and thus do not react with moisture or oxygen.

LFP cells have a nominal voltage of 3.2 volts. If you wanted to build a battery that could run 12 volt appliances, you would simply connect together 4 batteries in a series configuration. While using a BMS is not required, it is highly recommended. The function of the BMS is to equalize the voltage across the cells so that no cell becomes overcharged.  LFP batteries have a very flat discharge curve, which means your utilization equipment will see a stable current source and run more efficiently!  Most of the capacity is available at 3.3 – 3.0v per cell!
