These are Lithium-Iron-Phosphate (LiFePO4) Cells for DIY battery assemblies commonly used in solar systems, RVs, boats, OTR trucks and large scale energy storage. This specific cell is the exact same cell that is used in the SOK Battery 206ah 12v Battery Pack. Add the number of cells desired to your cart.
These cells are 3.2v cells and drilled & tapped for M6 hardware. We highly recommend utilizing a threaded stud, fully seated into the threads, as the aluminum terminal material is very soft and susceptible to being stripped out. Stripped terminals are not covered under warranty. We do not include bolt or stud hardware with the cells at this time. These terminals are optimal because your busbar will have direct contact with the large terminal material, as compared to cells with laser-welded terminals that have small contact areas and added resistance of a second and sometimes third piece of material added to the terminal.
They need to be connected together with the appropriate bus bars, available in Copper and Aluminum. Our default quantity is 1 busbar per cell, so a 4 cell pack would get 4 busbars. These GanFeng Batteries are brand new A-grade cells with QR codes in tact. The guaranteed capacity is at least 206ah with an internal resistance less than 0.3 milliohms. These cells have an additional margin and typically exceed 215ah.
Typically, 4 or more of these cells will be wired in series or parallel-series with a Battery Management System (BMS) to create a 12 volt battery, 8 cells for a 24v battery, or 16 cells for a 48v battery, with a suitable BMS. They may be paralleled at a cell level to increase your overall capacity (Ah).
It is very important to use a BMS to manage these cells.
LiFePO4 chemistry is easily damaged by over charging, over discharging, over/under temperature, and especially low temperature charging. Use a BMS that monitors each series-connected cell (or group of parallel connected cells) and has a low-temperature cutoff.
Balancing: We have tested these cells and found that they will reliably charge all the way up to 3.450v per cell in a 4 cell pack before any one cell exceeds 3.650v with a standard BMS. This is a level where a quality BMS can sufficiently take over and balance out the cells without a manual top balance. If you are building packs larger than 1p4s, we recommend either top balancing them yourself, or utilizing our balancing & capacity test service.
