The AC output is split phase only.

  9. TheBoiler asked: November 30, -0001

I am 10,000 ft and this would seem to be ideal for my situation. I noticed that the data sheet limits its use to 2km high and wondered why and if it is an issue if there is a work around. Obviously we need to adjust propane and small engines but have not come across an issue with electrics.

    • Current Connected replied:

Any altitude above the 2km rating in the spec sheet will not allow for the cooling to be as efficient due to the oxygen density.

  10. [email protected] asked: November 30, -0001

Would running unbalanced arrays on each MPPT be an issue in a split-phase configuration? I have 2 2000w arrays that at times will have a PV output differential as high as 800W due to varying tilt and shading characteristics

    • Current Connected replied:

In the settings you can select to have two independent strings or to parallel the strings at the unit, in your case you would select independent strings to maximize your yield.

  11. D90Don asked: November 30, -0001

6000XP demo videos claim no need for Solar Combiner Box. If my PV array already has a combiner box, should I bypass it or leave it as is? Any advantage to either approach?

    • Current Connected replied:

It would depend on your array size. The statement of no need for a combiner box refers to the ability to set the PV input as ‘Two MPPT connects to same string’ or ‘Two MPPT connects to different string’ Giving you the ability to parallel two strings at the unit or have two independent strings.

  12. D90Don asked: November 30, -0001

The Off-Grid 6000XP comes with WiFi dongle. If, however, your Off-Grid property does not have WiFi, is it still possible to do Firmware updates via Bluetooth or via data from your smart device/iPad/iPhone? or is this not recommended? Thanks.

    • Current Connected replied:

The firmware can be updated via the EG4 Monitor app by connecting your device locally to the dongle. All the instructions are in the manual.

I currently have two 48V "HUSKY" – LiFePO4 – 103Ah – 5.3kWh batteries. They have an internal BMS that does not have the ability to network with an inverter... Are they compatible with the 6000XP?

    • Current Connected replied:

Yes, you can use LiFePO4 batteries that do not have communication. You will use the Lead acid setting, with certain charging voltages that are not required set to 0V.

  14. Bobwn asked: November 30, -0001

I have an aging 8.5 kw westerbeke generator that does ok for the most part but the older EG4s had trouble syncing/handshaking not sure the term. My outback fx3648 inverter/charger/transformer type does fine. Curious if you know if this model is equally as sensitive to the AC input as the older EG4 inverters. I’m also considering connecting to generator as a 220v to get the full 100amp charge out of it. This is for a houseboat. Currently have a single bank of EVE cells lf280k lifepo4s. 16S with 3600w of PV. I have other questions lmk of ok to send before purchase.Bob

    • Current Connected replied:

EG4 requires the use of an inverter generator as the gen import.

The EG46000xp has a list of compatible manufactured batteries. I am looking to assemble a 16s 48v (16x3.2 280ah) unit. are generic BMS able to communicate with the inverter? are there specific comm protocols required? can they use the can or rs485? thx

    • Current Connected replied:

The battery must be on the approved list for support. Communication may work, but it will not be supported. It has CAN, and RS485.

  16. NigelV1 asked: November 30, -0001

If I purchase this, would I need a battery Balancer?

    • Current Connected replied:

That's entirely based on the battery bank you use. We suggest consulting with the battery supplier.

  17. Dataphd asked: November 30, -0001

  18. aqueel asked: November 30, -0001

Does the generator input also support 120V or does it have to be split phase 240V

    • Current Connected replied:

It must be 120/240v split phase. Furthermore, the manual indicates that it must be an inverter-type generator.

  19. shadowwolf20 asked: November 30, -0001

Does this work with solar panels only or does it have to have batteries

    • Current Connected replied:

You can select to operate with 'No Battery' in the battery settings.

  20. bhaz2 asked: November 30, -0001

The 480VDC MAX Rating……Is that MAX per MPPT, or the total VOC MAX for both MPPTs, combined?

    • Current Connected replied:

It would be the same either way. If you connect a 480v max array to MPPT 1 and a 480v max array to MPPT 2, then it would work fine.

  21. ProtonWH asked: November 30, -0001

Does this inverter frequency shift for throttling a grid-tied inverter?

    • Current Connected replied:

No. This is an off-grid inverter, not a hybrid inverter. For this type of functionality, we recommend looking at the 18k-PV hybrid inverter.

  22. nickrhee asked: November 30, -0001

How does this inverter address neutral-ground bonding in both on and off grid modes? EG4 says "The 6000XP architecture assumes there is a single neutral-ground bond in the system. Typically, the Neutral-Ground Bond for a system will be at the first means of disconnect for the grid. However, if there is no Neutral-ground bond in the system the 6000XP can be configured to create the bond internally. Note that this is not a dynamic bond. It is always enabled or always disabled. Further information can be found in the manual." Currently I use EG4 EHV3000 and it has dynamic NG bonding mechanism. On grid the neutral of AC output is connected to the neutral of AC input and the neutral of AC output is connected to the ground of AC output - so NG bonding is dynamically change. Thanks

    • Current Connected replied:

There is no dynamic neutral ground bond. You can either turn on the neutral ground bond or turn it off.

Has anyone put these inverters to a real test off grid? Im looking to upgrade my outback's but I don't want problem's. Do u have any good information.. Thanks

    • Current Connected replied:

These inverters are a brand new release, so at this time long term testing information is very limited. That said, it is manufactured by LuxPower, the same OEM as the EG4 18k-PV inverter that has been very reliable. If you need further information or help choosing a reliable solution for your installation, feel free to contact us by phone or email! Thanks.
