Description
Victron Phoenix Smart 12V 50A Battery Charger
The Phoenix Smart Charger features two outputs, allowing you to charge two battery banks simultaneously. The second output, specifically designed for a starter battery, offers a limited current of approximately 4A and slightly lower voltage. The charger also comes equipped with automatic voltage compensation, which adjusts the output voltage when there is an increase in DC current. This compensation ensures that your batteries receive the proper charge, regardless of cable length or quality.
Charge Algorithm
With its 6-stage charge algorithm, including bulk, absorption, recondition, float, storage, and refresh modes, this charger can cater to various battery types and optimize the charging process based on battery usage. It also allows programming via Bluetooth or the VE.Direct interface. With the mode button, you can select from three preprogrammed algorithms. Additionally, the Victron Phoenix Smart Charger incorporates a variable absorption time. When shallow discharges occur, the absorption time is kept short. However, after a deep discharge, the charger automatically extends the absorption time.
BatterySafe Mode – Protection Against Excessive Gassing
If you select a high charge current and absorption voltage to expedite charging, the charger will automatically limit the rate of voltage increase once the gassing voltage is reached.
Storage Mode
When your battery remains idle for an extended period, the Storage Mode becomes active. This mode reduces the float voltage to minimize gassing and corrosion of the positive plates. Additionally, the charger periodically raises the voltage back to the absorption level to “equalize” the battery.
Remote On-Off and Programmable Relay
The Victron Phoenix Smart Charger has two terminals, Remote H and Remote L, where you can connect a remote on-off switch or relay contact. Alternatively, by pulling terminal H high or terminal L low, you can activate the remote on-off function. The charger’s programmable relay can also be configured through the VE.Direct interface or a Bluetooth-enabled device to trigger alarms or respond to specific events.
